Fred's Tents and Canopies
Necessity is the mother of invention, and Fred Tracy’s first tent was born from a need for sun protection. A professional potter who spent many summer days at sun-drenched craft shows, Fred built his own lightweight and portable canopy to deflect the sun from his pottery and himself. His innovative design quickly gained attention, and soon he was selling tents to fellow crafters while his wife sold his pottery. He’s been building bigger and bigger tents for bigger and bigger clients ever since. Being quick and responsive to his customers’ needs, and having a financial partner like Pioneer, has helped his business achieve steady, positive growth.
From his beginnings with simple 10’ x 10’ crafter tents, the scope of his business continues to expand. One of the first big tents Fred made was a 9,000 square foot shelter for livestock. Since then, the company has created custom tents for the SuperBowl, NASCAR races, concerts, television broadcasts, awards ceremonies and military housing.
Those big, nationally televised events have to happen as planned, so every project has rigid deadlines. Fred has made it a priority to provide quick decisions, price quotes and answers to his customers’ questions. He makes himself available any time for his team. Speed and access have helped him compete, and he expects the same from his business partners.
When demand for his tents forced him to expand his production facilities, Fred turned to Pioneer Bank. He had access to the lending decision makers and got quick answers and timely turnaround from Pioneer’s commercial team. With their help, he financed a modern, 87,000-square foot warehouse that could accommodate his company’s rapid and continuing growth.
Now Fred’s Tents & Canopies is expanding their capabilities to better serve the event industry. They’ve added state-of-the-art large-format digital printing on tents and carpets, as well as proprietary surface treatments and truck branding systems. Fred can pursue new opportunities like this with confidence, knowing that Pioneer will be there to help if he needs them.
