Healthcare organizations across America have been under fire. Increased competition, rising costs and the uncertainty of healthcare reform have pushed many hospitals and health systems to the limit to provide adequate care for their community. But there's a group of healthcare leaders that are out to change this trend, creating new partnerships and realizing a new vision of care for their community.

The leaders of St. Peter's Health Partners (the region's largest health system, created by the merger of St. Peter's Health Care Services, Northeast Health and Seton Health) have developed an innovative and ground-breaking master facility plan that will reshape healthcare in the region. This $99 million strategic development project represents one of the largest private-sector investments in Rensselaer County history, and fulfills a key tenet of the merger – to improve the healthcare facilities and programs in Troy. Highlights of the project include construction, renovation and modernization of inpatient facilities on Samaritan Hospital's campus and outpatient facilities on St. Mary's Hospital campus, with a new five-story, inpatient pavilion, expanded emergency department, intensive care and progressive care beds; enhanced cancer services and a 550-space parking garage.

When it came time to implement this ambitious plan, St. Peter's Health Partners turned to Pioneer Bank for their capital campaign and investment management needs. These leaders recognize the value of a local, community-oriented bank, especially one that shares a long relationship with their organizations. For decades, Pioneer's leadership has taken an active role in the community's healthcare institutions, holding seats on local hospital boards and assisting with their philanthropy efforts. It seemed natural that, once again, Pioneer Bank would play a vital role in this community effort to save healthcare.

Pioneer Bank's financial services and local expertise help St. Peter's Health Partners manage their resources and achieve the greatest benefit for the community. Thanks to the vision of a few determined individuals, the future of healthcare looks brighter – and our community will be a healthier and happier place for generations to come.
