Saving the World with Bioplastics

Gavin McIntyre and Eben Bayer

Ecovative Design

Eben Bayer and Gavin McIntyre are on a mission to rid the world of toxic, unsustainable materials. Their technology firm, Ecovative Design is developing a new class of innovative "Mushroom Materials;" bioplastics that provide a high-performance, environmentally responsible alternative to traditional plastic foam packaging and insulation.

Frustrated by big banks that didn't care about their little start-up, Bayer and McIntyre came to Pioneer Bank for a line of credit to begin manufacturing their new packaging materials. At their first meeting with Pioneer's executive team, the Ecovative Design founders were impressed by the community-focus and the high level of personal service - attention normally reserved for far bigger customers.

Since that first meeting, Ecovative Design's relationship with Pioneer Bank has grown to include their everyday financial services, as well as solutions to help them manage and safeguard investment capital. They appreciate working with people who know their business, the convenience of Pioneer's local branches, the quick service for things like wire transfers, and the ease of web banking with Pioneer.

Pioneer Bank gives entrepreneurs like Bayer and McIntyre "big bank power with a small bank feel." They get the tools they need to fulfill Ecovative Design's company mission, along with personal service from people in their community.
